Sister Barbara Ann Smelko

On the occasion of her 50th jubilee, Sister Barbara Ann Smelko, SC, remembers with great joy the step-by-step journey she traveled as she moved into community life and service in the church.
“When I place on a time line the past 50 years and all the places of ministry I have been a part of, all the people I shared ministry with, and all those who touched my life, it has been an awesome journey. The movement through the years was made possible by the community of the Sisters of Charity who surrounded me, directed me and supported me. Together, we as a community unrolled the time line and journeyed hand-in-hand through the years of ministry and it has been a wonderful journey.”
Sister Barbara Ann entered community life with the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill from St. Stephen Parish in Hazelwood and Holy Child Parish in Bridgeville, PA. She is currently the Director of Music and Liturgy at Saint James the Apostle in New Bedford, PA.
