Who We Are

Sister Bernadette Manning, SC

Sister Bernadette Manning entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1961, from Saint Mary Magdalene Parish in Homestead, Pennsylvania. Now in her 50th year of religious life, Sister Bernadette ministers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a licensed professional counselor in private practice. Sister Bernadette’s practice, which had its inception in 1995, focuses on therapy with individuals and couples. She considers her work of assisting others in their journey to wholeness to be a privilege. Sister Bernadette approaches the challenges of helping her clients deal with the complexities of modern life with openness and sincerity. In addition to her private practice, Sister Bernadette ministers as a facilitator to various groups, and she has served from 2000 to the present as a consultant and therapist at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity.

Sister Bernadette touched many lives through her work with various institutions in the Pittsburgh area. Sister Bernadette reflects on her religious life in saying, “The past fifty years have been a journey of learning, change, and challenge filled with grace, blessing, and gratitude. Through my ministry as teacher, probation officer, counselor, and therapist, I have witnessed God’s mercy, compassion and forgiveness in the hearts of others.”
