Who We Are

Sister Judith Marie McKenna, SC

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sister Judith Marie McKenna, entered the congregation of women religious from Sacred Heart Parish on September 8, 1961. She served in the ministries of education and health care during her religious life.  Sister Judith Marie taught in the dioceses of Greensburg and Pittsburgh before she began studies in nursing in 1968. Her nursing certifications include oncology, critical care, intravenous therapy, and cardiac care. Sister Judith Marie has served as a registered nurse at hospitals and nursing homes in Pennsylvania and Arizona.

Recently, Sister Judith Marie has taken on two new part-time ministries in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She continues to serve as a registered nurse at Seton Center Adult Day Care while assuming a new role in assisting the coordination of activities at Germaine Harbor, which provides housing and supportive services to senior citizens. In both positions, she finds joy in bringing happiness to the elderly.

In reflection of religious life, Sister Judith Marie said, “I find that one feeling dominates my heart – thankfulness! I am appreciating God’s goodness to me in the personal growth that fifty years as a Sister of Charity have granted me. My years of teaching, nursing, community living, and personal struggles have helped me immensely to grow in the compassion, care, kindness, and love that are the blessings of the rich human relationships that I have known. ”
