Who We Are

Sister Brenda Jumba

“The aspect of religious life that I have found most satisfying, rewarding, and surprising is to plant seeds of faith and to nurture that faith in growth and love of the Lord,” says Sister Brenda Jumba, SC, who celebrates her 50th year of religious life. She had the opportunity to plant the seeds of faith in many children through her 28-year ministry as a teacher in the Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Tucson Dioceses and the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. She also served as principal for 16 years in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh and Greensburg.
Today, Sister Brenda serves as the coordinator of arts and crafts at Ss. Peter and Paul Home (Pittsburgh, PA), where she ministers to the elderly poor. “I enjoy and love the residents,” she says of her ministry since 2004. “I most enjoy seeing their self-esteem grow and watching their faces light up after they have completed a project.”
Sister Brenda entered the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill on September 8, 1958, from St. Barnabas Parish (Pittsburgh, PA) and credits her mother and the Sisters of Charity with influencing her decision to enter religious life.
“Justice, integrity, and love play a very vital part in my life,” says Sister Brenda. “Throughout my life, as a Sister of Charity, I have grown in wisdom, knowledge, and love of the Lord.”
