Sister Eileen Johnston

Sister Eileen Johnston, SC, serves as principal of St. Therese School (Munhall, PA). The instructional leader for the school, she oversees staff development, curriculum development, religious education, spiritual and academic development of students, and overseeing the financial needs of the school.
“I most enjoy watching the children grow in faith formation and academic skill development and being present to parents in situations that require pastoral support,” she says of this 12-year ministry.
A teacher for nearly 25 years and a principal for 15 years, Sister Eileen has served in the dioceses of Pittsburgh and Greensburg. Her longest ministry assignment was as a teacher for 13 years at DePaul School for Hearing and Speech (Pittsburgh, PA). She also served as vocation director for the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill from 1984 to 1991, in campus ministry at Seton Hill University from 1986 to 1990, and administrator of the Doran Hall Retreat Center from 1988 to 1991.
“Even though it has been difficult at times to go where I have been sent, I’ve always believed that the ministry to which I’ve been called at any given time in my life has been the place where I am most needed at that time,” she adds. “I’ve been surprised by the many people whose lives have touched mine throughout the years. It has been satisfying and rewarding for me to serve and carry Christ’s love and light to all those with whom I have worked and ministered.”
