Sister Annette Frey

Sister Annette Frey, SC, serves as Staff Nurse with Rendu Services, Inc. (Uniontown, PA) and does health education in Fayette County from a motor home equipped with educational models and literature. She also helps with the group’s food pantry, made possible through the Fayette County Community Action Agency. She also serves as the Spiritual Moderator of the Ladies of Charity at St. Mary Nativity Parish (Uniontown, PA).
“I have come to know that our charism is ‘caught” not just ‘taught,’” she says. “The more I know Vincent, Louise, and Elizabeth, the more I am able to empower individuals and groups by being a humble, simple, loving presence who meets people where they are.”
Sister Annette entered the Congregation on September 8, 1958, from St. Valentine Parish (Bethel Park, PA). She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Duquesne University. She also earned an MPH from the University of Michigan and is certified in Gerontology by ANCC, as an Individual Worker in the Validation Theory, as a Validation Group Practitioner, and in Parish Nursing. Her article, “Validating Sister Mary’s World,” was published in the April issue of Nursing 2005 (Vol. 35, No.4).
She has ministered primarily in the dioceses of Greensburg and Pittsburgh. Her longest ministry assignments were as Director of Retirement with the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, from 1987 through 1995, and as Coordinator of Retirement for the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, from 1972 through 1978.
